It was late at night and the moon was shining brightly over the country of Alluvia.  Hardly anyone was stirring during the midnight hour, aside from a pair on top of one of the many rooftops in the city.

Shuffling through a bag of supplies was a small blue Quetzalcoatl with a silver belly and a pair of white glasses concealing his eyes.  As he shuffled through his bag, he finally seemed to find what he was looking for, a set of white bandages.

He turned to his partner, a tan Cait Sith with black markings on his head.  The feline was wearing a yellow tiara on his head, a bright red bow around his chest and a dark blue dress.  He had a small wound visible on his lower left side and a much larger gash on his upper right arm.

The Cait Sith’s eyes were filed with frustration as the Quetzalcoatl clumsily fumbled with the wrappings, doing his best to treat his companions wounds.  After several seconds of silence the winged serpent spoke up.

“You really need to be more careful Elliot if were going to keep doing this midnight crime fighting thing,” he began quietly, causing the Cait Sith’s eyes to glance towards him.  “You can’t just jump in every time right away or you’re going to get really hurt.”

Elliot rolled his eyes at this before turning to the Quetzalcoatl.  “Or you could jump in with me Coro instead of flying above the action and just watching them!” he snapped back, causing the winged serpent to pull his head back defensively as he eyed the floor.

“Well if we know how our enemy will act we’ll have a better idea how to handle them…” Coro trailed off, getting a huff from his feline partner.  Silence fell over the two as Coro carefully went back to work treating the Cait Sith’s injury on his arm.  After a few moments he had successfully wrapped up the feline’s arm.

Coro took a moment to observe his partner, more specifically his rather unusual clothing selection.  “You know Elliot…do you really have to wear that when we do this?”

A scowl formed on the Cait Sith’s face as he turned to the messenger with a huff.  “Well we should wear disguises to make us harder to recognize if we’re going to do this!” he replied defensively, his cheeks turning a bright shade of red.

“Well yeah…” Coro trailed off with a small nod.  “But couldn’t you have picked something a bit better for both concealing your identify and being practical for fighting?”

The Cait Sith turned towards his partner with a death glare at this, causing the winged serpent to take a gulp.  “Oh yes, because your such an expert at that!” he spat before he continued.  “I’m sure no one will recognize the tiny blue and silver Quetzalcoatl messenger now that they can’t see his eyes!”

Coro grimaced at this as he turned away from the Cait Sith, a hurt look in his eyes as Elliot crossed his arms while emitting a loud huff.  The pair remained as they were for several minutes, neither saying a word.

Finally, Elliot felt a soft tap on his right shoulder, causing him to turn his head to see one of Coro’s dark blue wings.  Before he could figure out what he was doing, he felt another tap, this time on his left leg.  By the time he turned around, he saw the messenger’s tail hovering just in front of his lap, gently gripping a bright red rose.

Another blush formed on the Cait Sith’s face as he instantly looked away.  He quickly glanced back towards the Quetzalcoatl’s tail before gently grabbing the rose and turning away again.  “Thank you…” he muttered, getting a smile Coro’s face.

“You’re welcome,” the Quetzalcoatl replied, happy that their spat seemed to be over for the moment.  The pair sat in content silence for a several more minutes before a thought occurred to the feline.

“Where do you keep getting those anyway?” he asked, causing his comrades body to tense.  This confused the Cait Sith before a look of rage came over his face.  “You grabbed them from my garden didn’t you!?!?”

Without a word, the Quetzalcoatl instantly took flight, leaving a screaming feline on the roof below as he flew off into the night.
